Abstract

The study explored the impact of academic locus of control on impostor feelings and procrastination among Chartered Accountancy (CA) aspirants in India. A sample of 112 participants undergoing their three-year articleship and simultaneously preparing for ca intermediate or final exams was selected using purposive and snowball sampling methods. Standardized tools were used, including trice’s academic locus of control scale, the clance impostor scale, and tuckman’s procrastination scale. Data were analyzed using two independent samples t-tests. Results indicated that academic locus of control had a significant effect on impostor feelings [t(110) = 2.48, p < 0.05] and procrastination [t(110) = 3.02, p < 0.01]. The study highlights the psychological challenges faced by CA aspirants and emphasizes the need to address their mental well-being during this demanding phase of training and study.
