Presentation Title:

Understanding relationship between gratitude, anxiety and life satisfaction

Abstract

The study explores the relationship between gratitude, anxiety, and life satisfaction. Gratitude has been widely linked to enhanced psychological well-being, while anxiety is often associated with lower life satisfaction, yet few studies have examined these variables together. The research set out to explore whether gratitude increases life satisfaction, whether anxiety decreases it, and if gratitude can soften anxiety’s negative effects. A cross-sectional design was adopted, and standardised measures of gratitude, anxiety, and life satisfaction were administered to participants. Correlational and regression analyses were performed to examine the predictive relationships. Results indicated that gratitude was positively correlated with life satisfaction, whereas anxiety showed a negative correlation. Additionally, gratitude was found to partially offset the negative influence of anxiety. These findings highlight the protective role of gratitude in maintaining well-being and suggest that cultivating gratitude practices may serve as an effective intervention for enhancing life satisfaction and reducing the impact of anxiety.
