A salutogenic, self-regulation group model for trauma treatment in sexual abuse survivors with complex PTSD
Abstract
The triphasic community group model that will be presented is a unique program model that can be used with survivors of Complex PTSD. This salutogenic model will be presented as a case study reporting the findings of Ruth Place, a project which supports Survivors of sexual abuse. The model and program utilizes a body-based self-regulation model where participants engage in cognitive and neurological rewiring through psychoeducation, self-regulation and post traumatic growth planning. This model and project have had life changing outcomes including increasing interoceptive awareness and reduction of PTSD symptoms. This is a model program that holds the potential to be used with other populations with Complex PTSD in community based settings.
